Russian Post to hire VimpelCom workers during pandemic

MOSCOW, May 8 (PRIME) -- National postal operator Russian Post will employ on a part-time basis the staff of stores of mobile operator VimpelCom, working under brand Beeline, as postmen and drivers-couriers with own cars, a VimpelCom spokesperson told PRIME on Friday.

“Program Helping Hand is created to support employees forced to suspend work in the sales offices of Beeline due to the tougher safety measures in Moscow or willing to earn on the side in free time. The project’s participants will be able to get an additional income and help clients of Russian Post by ensuring a steady provision of courier services,” the spokesperson said.

The initiative was launched on April 17 for the lockdown period in Moscow, but the partners intend to cooperate afterwards.

“We plan to launch the program in other regions of the Russian Federation,” the spokesperson said.

Russian Post said earlier it opened 5,000 vacancies because of higher demand for delivery amid COVID-19.
